Location: Annapolis, MD

DCS is headquartered in Annapolis Maryland, with presence in California, Florida, Texas, and Utah. Our purpose is to assist clients with the planning, design, building and maintaining of critical facilities, most often data centers. All data centers present their own unique set of challenges. DCS has years of experience in the marketplace and is exceptionally qualified to provide these construction services. We strive to evaluate and make wise technical and fiscal decisions, while keeping quality, efficiency, modularity, maintainability, affordability, and delivery time frames to higher standards. A high-level member of our staff manages each project from start to finish. We strive to supply engineering, construction, electrical, mechanical, fire & life safety, communications, monitoring as well as suite development services. DCS employees are well established market leaders as true and trusted partners within the data center industry.

DCS is currently hiring for an ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER:

  • Collaborates with other staff to create preconstruction estimates and proposals.
  • Work closely with project superintendent and assigned subcontractors to ensure that work is completed on time, within budget, and to the high degree of quality.
  • Coordinates and schedules the work activities as appropriate.
  • Obtains required permits and licenses; executes construction contracts according to terms of agreement.
  • Create and track project RFIs, submittals, and subcontracts.
  • Distribute and track construction bulletins, RFPs, or other change documentation.
  • Facilitate effective project meetings, plus prepare, distribute agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Review shop drawings and samples.
  • Monitors budget throughout the project and communicates variances as they occur.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Create scopes of work for each trade with the ability to develop bid packages.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Travel throughout the Maryland/DC/Virginia region.
  • Work under pressure.
  • Broad knowledge of building systems, trades, and construction methods
  • Analyze and develop innovative solutions to complex construction issues.
  • Oversee and coordinate a variety of projects at the same time.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Read and understand blueprints, drawings, and plans.
  • Thorough understanding of legal requirements relating to construction and building sites.
  • Thorough understanding of quality building practices.
  • Must have knowledge of OSHA (or equivalent) safety requirements.
  • Proficient with MS Project and Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Bluebeam software is a plus.

General education and experience requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree or equivalent field experience.
  • At least three years of general construction or construction management experience.
  • CPR and first aid certifications and OSHA 30 training, or the ability to obtain.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds when needed.
  • Ability to recognize and correct unsafe work practices and or conditions.
  • Note: DCS follows all ADA requirements.

 Additional requirements:

  • Candidates mustbe US citizens and able to pass background investigation.

 Work environment:

  • While employed by DCS, employee will be exposed to construction equipment, moving machines and be at risk of possible electrical charges. The employee will be expected to work outside during projects in various weather conditions.
