Case Study: Smith College

CTS asked Data Center Solutions Corp. (DCS) to provide design and construction services, for Smith College, to renovate the existing data center/server room located in a facility in Northampton, MA.  The details of our proposed scope of work are outlined below.

Construction Management 

DCS designated full time construction project management.  These individuals acted as the sole point of contact for all design and construction activities associated with this project.  The project manager`s ensured that the personnel and facilities needed for the performance of the scope of works were made available in a timely manner to meet the established schedule.

The following design services were provided

•  Architectural to clarify the construction intent as required for local permits.

•  Structural to insure the integrity of the construction, primarily related to the new HVAC and Generator equipment pads.
• Civil design services as required for the new generator and HVAC equipment pads.

Construction Services

  The scope was to renovate an existing Data Center per the HP Implementation requirements.  DCS recommended the following based on our experience and industry best practices for providing these services:

• Fire Suppression
• Fire Detection System
• Pre-action System
